A veteran of the contemporary music scene both in New York and overseas, bassist Robb Roberts is considered by many of those who have worked with him to be a solid and dependable performer.
A native New Yorker who has over 30 years of experience in the music business, Robb Roberts has performed with the likes of Carole King, The Temptations, Bloodstone, Malo,Freddie Jackson, Billy Paul, Chiffons, The Drifters and The Coasters as well as performing with Blues legend Phil Wiggins and “The Jackie Wilson Story” at the Apollo Therter.
In addition, Robb Roberts has played in advertisement jingles for companies such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Swatch Watch, Beujolais Wines, and the Arrow Clothing Company featuring the work of renowned artist LeRoy Neiman.
Influenced by such great bassists as Larry Graham, James Jameson, Paul Chambers, Charlie Mingus, Anthony Jackson, and Ray Brown,
he attended Hunter College of the City University of New York and NYC Jazz Workshop under the direction of renowned jazz bassist Milt Hinton.
As a result of this training, Robb Roberts has demonstrated his ability to not only play, but also "feel" the song in a way other bassists (and some musicians) fail to accomplish. Hence, Robb Roberts knows when to play fast, slow (and at times, not at all) both when recording and performing.
Currently, Robb Roberts is performing with his group, The Robb Roberts Project throughout the NYC metropolitan area while continuing to lend his support to other artists, group both in performance as well as recording situations. He is also planning to record his first CD as leader in the very near future to showcase his abilities on both acoustic and electric basses in a variety of musical styles.
